October opens the season

The October event starts a qualifying programme that continues into the new year. The organizer’s published calendar lists further qualifying rounds on November 18 and December 16, 2026, followed by January 20 and February 10, 2027. Two semifinals are scheduled for February 27 and March 6, with the grand finale planned for May 1, 2027.

For the opening round, the schedule includes a 6:30 PM photo session between the doors opening and the performance. Rehearsals are listed for September 30, October 7 and October 14. These are separate from the public October 21 event.

A stage for emerging voices

The contest’s website advertises adult and juvenile categories and welcomes songs in different languages. Registration for Season 21 is available through its official form, which specifies that applicants must live in or around the Greater Toronto Area.

The opening round gives audiences an opportunity to meet the season’s performers before the later competition stages. Hainica Magazine’s earlier report on the contest explores its wider connection to music, mentorship and community.
