The Existential Ring
Recognition of actions that preserve or enable the existence of another being, including when the actor accepts personal risk.
Recognition criteria
The nomination must show the actual protective or enabling conduct, the living beings affected, the outcome, and any relevant risk. Intentions should not be presumed without evidence.
Eligibility and fair evaluation
Open to eligible nominations under the general programme rules. The positive impact, even if small, must be identifiable. Nominations are compared with candidates of a comparable type. Self-nomination is welcome; awards are not based on prestige or popularity alone.
