Through her Wheel of Emotions, the Chilean singer is turning vulnerability, identity and self-love into a musical narrative where every feeling has another side.

SANTIAGO, Chile — Denise Rosenthal is entering one of the most introspective chapters of her musical career. Moving beyond conventional pop storytelling, the singer-songwriter has developed a conceptual universe built around emotional contrasts, personal identity and the difficult process of learning to choose oneself.

At the heart of this artistic transition is her Rueda de las Emociones (Wheel of Emotions), a framework in which music becomes a means of exploring feelings from different perspectives.

On September 30, 2026, Rosenthal introduced her new canciones espejo, or “mirror songs,” format with the simultaneous release of “1 es 2+2” and “Primero, Yo Misma.” The two recordings explore opposite responses to emotional imbalance: losing one’s sense of self in a relationship and consciously recovering it.

Instead of presenting personal transformation as a straightforward journey from sadness to happiness, Rosenthal examines the contradictions that exist within emotional experience itself. In this universe, vulnerability and strength are not mutually exclusive. They are different expressions of a shared experience.

The emotional mathematics of a relationship

The unusual title “1 es 2+2” transforms a dysfunctional emotional exchange into an impossible-looking equation. Its starting point is recognizable: giving more than one receives, gradually allowing an intimate relationship to dissolve individual boundaries. The arithmetic is intentionally emotional rather than literal.

“Primero, Yo Misma” offers the response. Where its companion looks at self-erasure, this track imagines the return to identity, self-respect and personal limits. Heard together, they create a conversation: one song names what happens when love becomes a loss of self; the other establishes that caring for oneself need not mean rejecting love.

Rosenthal developed both tracks in Los Angeles. “Primero, Yo Misma” was written and produced with Camilo Vélez and María Vértiz Cortina, while “1 es 2+2” involved Chilean producer Tomás Pérez, with Rosenthal contributing closely to the arrangements and vocals.

What the Wheel of Emotions actually connects

These two releases are the first officially announced mirror-song duo in the September 2026 rollout, but Rosenthal had already been building an emotional vocabulary around pain, uncertainty and transformation. In an October interview with Meow Magazine, she described “Flor de Lis” and “Tityus” as an earlier linked pair in her creative journey, exploring depression, anguish and sadness.

Other recent recordings can be read alongside that emerging framework, although not every thematically connected song has been announced as a formal mirror-song pair. That distinction matters: a conceptual map can illuminate relationships across a catalogue without becoming a fictional official tracklist.

Editorial classification: only Pair 01 was introduced as the official September mirror-song double release. “Tityus” and “Flor de Lis” were described as linked by Rosenthal. Rows 03 and 04 are Hainica Magazine’s interpretive connections, not artist-confirmed pairs.

Earlier songs, larger emotional conversations

“Tityus” draws its title from a scorpion and belongs to a period in which the artist has spoken openly about crisis, grief and recovery. “Flor de Lis” approaches uncertainty with a less controlling impulse: sometimes growth begins with allowing an emotion to exist rather than demanding an immediate solution. Rosenthal identified these songs as connected in a recent interview, giving this part of the map unusually direct support.

“Dicotomía,” a November 2025 solo release, and “Rojo Rubí,” her September 2026 collaboration with Mimi Leclercq, provide a further editorial comparison. The latter explicitly addresses authenticity and the challenge of protecting one’s essence through change. Their juxtaposition can illuminate the tension between inner divisions and the desire to remain recognizable to oneself; it should not be mistaken for an official artist-announced duo.

Likewise, the 2025 single “Rueda de las Emociones” supplies a direct title for Rosenthal’s larger organizing metaphor, whereas “Secreto de Luna” is a collaboration on Sirena Dlr and DBS’s ALA5 project. The song’s imagery of healing and emotional center makes it relevant context for listeners tracing recurring themes, but it is not verified as a mirror-song entry.

From Los Angeles recordings to a shared experience in Santiago

The new era is not confined to streaming platforms. The interactive Primero Yo Misma: ¿Qué Quieres Cultivar Dentro de Ti? experience was announced for October 8–10 at Citylab in Santiago. Its premise invites audiences to translate the music’s central question into personal reflection: what do we want to cultivate within ourselves?

Another officially announced mirror-song double release is planned for mid-November 2026. The titles and the emotional contrast of that upcoming pair have not yet been established in the reporting available as of October 8.

A pop architecture built around contradiction

What makes the project interesting is not a promise that every painful emotion will find a simple positive counterpart. Instead, the mirror structure recognizes that people can be wounded and resilient, uncertain and self-aware, deeply attached and still capable of drawing boundaries.

The Wheel of Emotions suggests a listening experience in which each new song reframes an earlier one. As further pairs emerge, the architecture may become clearer: different emotional states, different vantage points, but a shared search for an authentic self.

For Rosenthal, the mirror is not simply an object in which to admire a reflection. It is a way of looking closely enough to notice what has changed—and what remains.
